The police announced that they have identified and arrested a driver who was suspected of shooting a jogger in Buckhead on Saturday morning and firing his gun at two others before plowing his car into a pedestrian in an apartment complex parking lot. Officers responded to the 1200 block of West Wesley Road at about 8:30 am to a report of an injured jogger. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a man in his 40s who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.
A short time after the initial situation, police responded to another report of a driver in the area who shot at two other joggers. Those joggers were uninjured. Those joggers, as well as witnesses to the second event, stated that the man simply pointed a gun while driving by and fired. At about 11:30 am, police responded to another call, this time about a man in his early 20s who had been struck by a car while taking the trash out at his apartment complex. This victim was severely injured and also hospitalized in critical condition.
The 22-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and police found shell casings in his car that linked him to the previous incidents. Police stated that they believe he lived at the apartment complex where the accident occurred and was suffering a mental health crisis. He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
