A driver is facing multiple charges, including first-degree homicide by vehicle, after a Monday evening accident on Flat Shoals Road. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, investigators say the 32-year-old male driver was speeding on Flat Shoals Road when he ran a red light and struck a vehicle on the driver’s side in the intersection. The force of the collision forced that vehicle into a third, which collided with a fourth vehicle. Authorities noted that the driver smelled strongly of alcohol and was arrested at the scene. A search of his vehicle revealed marijuana and an open container of beer.
The names of the victims had not been released at the time of Fox 5’s report of the accident. However, the driver who was arrested at the scene has been charged with two counts of first degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, speeding, reckless driving, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, an open container law violation, and failure to obey a traffic control device.
