According to the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, DeKalb County is one of the most common areas of the state for fatal car accidents to occur, along with the other Atlanta metro counties, including Fulton, Clayton, Cobb, and Gwinnett. Negligence is the cause of most car accidents, with the most common types of negligence being driving too fast for the conditions of the road (speeding), alcohol-impaired driving, and distracted driving.
If you have been injured or have lost a loved one due to a car accident that was caused by a negligent driver, the personal injury or wrongful death claims process can be used to seek compensation for the expenses and impacts of your injury or loss. The financial and psychological impacts that are often compensated through the personal injury claims process include medical expenses, lost wages, loss of future earning capacity, property damage, physical pain and suffering, and emotional distress. Wrongful death claimants can seek compensation for treatment of the deceased’s final injuries, funeral and burial or cremation, the loss of financial support the deceased provided to their family members, as well as loss of care, companionship, counsel, and advice.
