Beige hard truck International 9800 crashed on the freeway.
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on northbound I-75 in Henry County on Thursday after being struck by two tractor trailers. Police say they were called to the scene — just south of the Hudson Bridge Road exit — around 5 AM. The victim, who was riding a blue sport bike, was struck by the tractor-trailers. The accident resulted in a several-hour closure of the northbound lanes of the interstate. The police requested anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward, particularly if they were able to get the license tag number or the company name of the tractor-trailers involved in the accident. A sport bike is a type of motorcycle that is designed for speed, acceleration, braking, and cornering. They tend to be much lighter than other types of bikes, such as cruisers, and are the fastest style of motorcycle approved for use on public roadways. Even in full daylight, motorcycles are less visible than other vehicle types, making it difficult for drivers to see them. Motorcycles also have less stability than other types of vehicles, as well as a lack of protective features designed to avoid ejection in an accident. Commercial trucks have significant blind spots that make it difficult to see smaller objects near the vehicle. This can result in accident when the driver attempts to change lanes. While these blind spots are commonly referred to as “no zones” and plenty of information has been distributed to the public about how drivers can avoid being in a truck’s no zone, it remains the responsibility of the truck driver to ensure a travel lane is clear before attempting to pass. It can be difficult to determine liability in any type of traffic accident, especially if the parties involved in the accident are unable to tell their side of the story.
