A 30-year-old Smyrna woman was killed on I-75 in Marietta near Delk Road after police say she lost control of her vehicle and rotated into other lanes, resulting in a tractor-trailer slamming into her Ford Focus. The accident occurred in the northbound lanes at around 6:30 AM. The woman was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she died of her injuries. Police put a call out to the public for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them as they try to determine what caused her to lose control of the vehicle. There are a number of things that can result in loss of control when driving, including excessive speed, driving distractions, fatigue, impairment, and more. There are also a number of negligence-based reasons, including defective tires that led to a blowout, or even the actions of other drivers on the roadway. Just as authorities will investigate a fatal accident to determine its cause, when the family of an individual catastrophically injured or killed in an accident seeks the guidance of a personal injury and wrongful death attorney, the attorney will also investigate. This investigation includes an attempt to determine all sources of liability and all insurance resources available through liable parties. Police investigate accidents in order to determine if laws have been broken. Insurance companies investigate accidents in order to determine the liability of their insured. Attorneys investigate accidents in order to provide guidance and advocacy as accident victims or their family members seek the compensation they need for the expenses and impacts of their injury or loss.
